Kim Ballantyne


Kimberly Ballantyne was born and raised in The Pas, Manitoba. She grew up in a small metis settlement called ‘Umpherville.’ She is status from Mosakahiken Cree Nation, also known as Moose Lake. She graduated with her High School Diploma at Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute. Later, she left The Pas, in April 2009 to pursue her degree at The University of Manitoba, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology; February 18, 2014.


Soon after, she was hired July 28, 2014 as an Employment Counsellor, with the largest Indigenous Employment Agency in Winnipeg. It is known as the (CAHRD) Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc. They assist Indigenous people with Education, Training and Employment Services.


In January 6, 2015 she was promoted to the Director of Employment Services for the same organization, the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development Inc.


Recently a position came available in The Pas which caught her eye. Her friend, Crystal Morrish, had posted the position on social media and was she was encouraged to apply. After a few intense interviews, she received news that she was the successful candidate for the position.



Kimberly Ballantyne is now the Destination Marketing / Economic Development Coordinator and works for The Pas Community Development Corporation and The Destination Marketing Committee.


Her role is to assist The Pas, OCN and surrounding area with promotion, marketing and economic development to help bring in visitors and tourists, and create a one-stop shop at the Visitor Info Centre located at 1559 Gordon Avenue.


In her free time, she likes spending time with family - her daughter Nova (4 years) and son Leonardo (18 months). She is also actively pursuing her Private Pilot Licence.


She says “ It feels great to be home.”
